Environmental Health Officer

Fixed term, full-time role (up to 31 December 2024) Salary Level 5 to 6 depending on formal qualifications and/or experience Salary: $89,898 to $103,879 per annum (FTE) inclusive of annual leave loading plus superannuation Based in Hilton on the city fringe Rostered day off per month What you'll do As the Environmental Health Officer you will provide high-quality professional services in a broad range of regulatory functions through education, direction and enforcement. You will provide advice to internal and external customers and be responsible for undertaking multidisciplinary investigations and inspections to assess compliance with legislation which Council's Environmental Health Team administers particularly the: South Australian Public Health Act Food Act Local Government Act Supported Residential Facilities Act Local Nuisance & Litter Control Act Environmental Protection Act Part of this role will also require you to deliver educational projects, programs and information forums to proactively influence the outcomes of the community. Who you are If you meet the essential qualifications and possess sound skills to communicate technical information to a wide variety of audiences, we would like to hear from you. You will have an ability to exercise independent and objective professional judgement in day-to-day operations in accordance with relevant legislation. You must also have a minimum essential qualifications as per the following: Essential qualifications for Salary Level Level 5: A recognised tertiary qualification in Environmental Health for eligibility to be appointed as a local authorised officer under the South Australian Public Health Act Essential qualifications and experience for Salary Level Level 6: A recognised tertiary qualification in Environmental Health for eligibility to be appointed as a local authorised officer under the South Australian Public Health Act with a minimum of 5 years' experience in an equivalent role In addition, in accordance with the requirements of this role, a National Police Clearance (within six months of issue) and a current Class C Driver's Licence will be required as part of the recruitment process.
