The main responsibility of this role is to provide in-house legal support to Horizon Power and managing the provision of external legal support to the business.
Your new role will include:
- Effectively manage external legal spend.
- Provide value for money legal support to meet Horizon Power's requirements.
- Drafting and negotiating contracts with commercial and project teams in the business.
- Provide legal advice to the business including Executive General Managers and Level 3 Managers.
- Manage legal disputes on behalf of Horizon Power.
- Manage relationships with external panel firms to facilitate the delivery of value for money, commercial advice in the required timeframes.
- Advise on legislative changes and trends to assess impact on Horizon Power and manage response to key areas of risk.
- Preferably five years post-admission (Associate level) experience in providing legal advice, negotiating/drafting contracts and preparing commercial documentation relating to one or more of the following areas: electricity and/or energy, commercial contracts, construction law, intellectual property matters, compliance and policy, property and land tenure and/or insurance.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and without supervision.
- A proven ability to reconcile legal and commercial/practical issues in a business context.
- Some exposure to litigation and dispute resolution matters.
- Strong legal research skills.
- Experience working effectively in a team.
- Strong writing skills (including in respect of preparing advice and drafting contracts).
