The Role

As members of the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion team, EDI Project Coordinators are supported to develop and drive relevant initiatives, projects and programs which support the implementation of Murdoch University's Equity, Diversity and Inclusion sub-strategy.

EDI Project Coordinators are currently sought for the following areas of focus.

Gender Equity: This EDI Project Coordinator will primarily focus on gender equity and be instrumental in advancing initiatives that foster gender inclusivity and empowerment within the university community. The role will coordinate projects dedicated to dismantling gender barriers in higher education, working closely with relevant community networks and advisory groups. Some of these include University's accreditation applications such as SAGE Athena Swan, coordinating Workplace Gender Equity Agency (WGEA) reporting, and analysing gender-related EDI data. By organising targeted meetings, maintaining compliance with legislation, and fostering a vibrant community of practice, the role will contribute significantly to the University's commitment to gender equity.

Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD): This EDI Project Coordinator will primarily focus on Culturally and Linguistically Diverse cohorts (CALD) and will champion projects that enhance the inclusion and empowerment of culturally diverse groups within the university. Coordinating with community networks and advisory groups, the role will drive initiatives that celebrate and support the diverse cultural backgrounds of staff, students, and the broader community. Responsibilities encompass the coordination of projects tailored specifically for CALD communities, facilitating training opportunities to enhance intercultural competence, and actively identifying areas for improvement to foster the continual development of a culturally responsive and inclusive university environment.

Reconciliation (RAP): This EDI Project Coordinator will primarily focus on fostering meaningful relationships and reconciliation with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples and will support the advancement of the University's Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). Key responsibilities involve supporting the inclusion and empowerment of First Nations people in higher education, collaborating closely with community leadership, networks, and advisory groups. This position plays a crucial role in nurturing a culturally rich and inclusive university environment, and it is open to non-Indigenous allies committed to supporting reconciliation efforts.
