The Port of Townsville Limited (thePort) has been actively shaping the future of Townsville and NorthQueensland for almost 160 years. 

Today, we are Australia’slargest port for zinc, lead, copper, sugar and fertiliser.Additionally, we handle more motor vehicles and containerised goodsthan any other port in Northern Australia. The goods that flowthrough our ports are grown, mined, manufactured and used to betterthe lives of more than 800,000 people across a vast catchment area,spanning from Hinchinbrook to the Burdekin and west to MountIsa. 

On average, more than 7.5 milliontonnes of goods, worth more than $11.4 billion, cross our wharveseach year. Thanks to our customers, we are one of thecountry’s most diverse ports, linking more than 30 differentcommodities to 130 ports in 44countries.

About the role andyou

The ERP Data Migration Lead is responsible for planning,execution, and oversight of Data Migration activities related tothe implementation of the Port’s Enterprise Resource Planning(ERP) and Property Management Systems, ensuring the seamlesstransition of data from legacy systems to the new ERPplatform.  The ERP Data Migration Lead collaborates withcross-functional teams to guarantee data accuracy, integrity, andconsistency throughout the migration process. 

Due to the nature of the project and function of the role,preference is performance of the role at Port’s Townsvilleoffice.  Remote working options may be considered if suitableapplicant is not based in Townsville area.

  • Work closely with project team, business analysts, IT teams, and end-users to understand data requirements and dependencies.
  • Analyse and understand the structure and content of data residing in legacy systems.
  • Develop comprehensive data migration plans, including data mapping and transformation processes.
  • Extract data from various sources, undertake transformation processes, to allow importing into new ERP and Property Management systems, ensuring referential integrity.
  • Cleanse and validate data to maintain accuracy and integrity during the migration process.
  • Conduct and monitor testing of Data Migration processes to identify and rectify errors.
  • Collaborate with ERP consultants and technical teams to customise Data Migration scripts and tools.
  • Address and resolve data migration issues promptly, ensuring minimal disruption to existing business operations.
  • Provide support post-implementation to address any data-related issues.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of Data Migration processes, including mapping documents, transformation rules, and migration scripts.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing updates on Data Migration progress and addressing concerns.

Experience you’llneed

To be successful in the role, youwill require: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • National Police Check.
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence.
  • Proven experience in Data Migration projects, in the context of ERP implementations (Tier 1 or 2).
  • In-depth knowledge of Data Migration tools and techniques.
  • Strong understanding of Tier 1 or 2 ERP systems and database structures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to data accuracy and quality.
  • Team collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to navigate ambiguity and evolving project requirements.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Advanced skills in Data Migration tools.
  • Experience in using ERPs such as TechnologyOne, Oracle, SAP.
