Wine Australia (WA) supports the Australian grape and wine community by investing in research and innovation, disseminating knowledge, encouraging adoption, marketing and protecting the reputation of Australian wine.
We are funded by grape growers and winemakers through levies and user-pays charges, and by the Australian Government’s matching funding in research and innovation.
The Research and Innovation (R&I) team works with the Australian grape and wine community, representative organisations, wine sector bodies and research partners to support the long-term success of the Australian grape and wine sector. The team co-designs, directs and manages grape and wine research and development, and facilitates the dissemination, adoption and commercialisation of the results to enable practice change by the sector.
One of the clear strategic drivers for the ongoing success of grape and wine businesses is to use sustainable practices that increase environmental resilience and improve the social and economic performance of businesses and communities. The ESG Investment Plan (https://www.wineaustralia.com/sustainability) sets out a range of initiatives that will help the sector do this.
Wine Australia seeks a ESG Project Manager to join the team. This role reports to the General Manager R&I and is responsible for implementing a range of ESG projects arising from the ESG Investment Plan. This role will also provide project management support to the R&I team, and more broadly within Wine Australia, for other new and existing projects related to ESG.
You will play a key role in:
- project management, which includes: sector consultation, co-design, procurement, contracting, reviewing progression and extension of ESG projects,
- working with the National Extension and Adoption (E&A) Manager to successfully translate, implement and commercialise research outcomes for use by the grape and wine sector,
- monitoring and reporting progress of all Wine Australia ESG related projects,
- providing project management support across Wine Australia, and
- effectively managing relationships with key stakeholders and participate in appropriate working groups to manage the interests of Wine Australia and the Australia grape and wine sector
We are keen to hear from you if you possess a tertiary degree in a discipline relevant to ESG, agriculture or the wine sector and understand how ESG requirements impact agricultural businesses.
You will also have:
- strong experience in project management,
- sound understanding and demonstrated experience in ESG or sustainability management,
- sound understanding of global trends relevant to the wine sector,
- demonstrated ability to use a design-led/customer-led approach, including ‘systems thinking’ methodology,
- effective leadership, communication, facilitation, coordination, motivational, negotiation and conflict resolution skills,
- demonstrated commercial mindset, ability to sustain focus on conflicting priorities and deliver business priorities on deadline with consistent quality, and
- ability to influence and build productive relationships with industry providers, vendors and senior stakeholders.
We are looking for a flexible, resourceful self-starter who takes initiative, and requires little direct day-to-day supervision. You will have strong interpersonal skills, a collegial work style, enthusiasm, a good sense of humour and enjoy working as part of a team. You will ideally be based in Adelaide, but we will consider other locations for the right person.
