Overview
The Senior Social Worker Child Protection is an experienced and highly competent clinician who provides clinical and professional leadership to health professionals working in rural and remote areas of South Australia. Responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of the Child Protection programs and services which deliver integrated and consistent systems and structures under SA Health’s responsibility within Safe and well: Supporting families, protecting children.
The Senior Social Worker will work with the Advanced Clinical Lead Child Protection to ensure targeted and culturally appropriate earlier intervention for children and their families to improve their safety, health, and development outcomes where vulnerability factors exist. Operating within a multi-disciplinary service context, the position contributes to the development and implementation of a service of best practice by delivering a client focused service, delivering, and supporting staff training on areas identified by the Advanced Clinical Lead. Responsible for contributing to improvements in the quality, safety, and community needs-driven distribution of services across the regional Local Health Networks (LHNs), the Senior professional works with allied health staff, managers, and other stakeholders on model of care and workforce development initiatives.
The Senior Social Worker is line managed by Principal Consultant Allied Health, receives clinical support and supervision from the Advanced Clinical Lead Child Protection and maintains cooperative working relationships with other allied health professional clinical seniors, local team members and key stakeholders in the region and State.
Qualifications
Must hold an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers. For self-regulated professions it is desirable to participate in the professional associations accredited continuing professional development program.
