- Analyse project specifications and blueprints to understand the scope of work.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for materials, labour, equipment, and other expenses.
- Obtain quotes and bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Evaluate and compare quotes to determine the most cost-effective options.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements.
- Create detailed cost breakdowns and proposals for clients.
- Update cost databases and track project expenses throughout the life cycle of the project.
- Identify potential risks and opportunities for cost savings.
- Participate in bid presentations and negotiations with clients.
- Stay updated with industry trends, pricing, and regulations related to construction or the specific field of estimation.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as an estimator in the construction industry or relevant field.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and processes.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Knowledge of estimating software and tools, such as Bluebeam, Procore, or PlanSwift.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills for accurate cost calculations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with project teams, subcontractors, and clients.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills for interacting with stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented approach to reviewing project requirements and identifying cost factors.
- Time management skills to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and regulations related to construction estimation.
