The Darwin Convention Centre is a world-class conference and business events venue and the centrepiece of the Darwin Waterfront Precinct. Managed by global venue management specialist ASM Global, the Centre hosts hundreds of business events every year. With some 23,000 sqm of space for providing service excellence with a dedicated team of professionals, Darwin is an ideal starting point for exploring the Top End.

EVENT ASSISTANT

We are currently looking for an experienced and passionate Event Assistant to join us at Darwin Convention Centre!

The purpose of this role is supporting the Events team with their daily event tasks and duties with delivering a world class experience for our Clients.

This will include tasks such as:

  • Be the main point of contact for clients during events, while ensuring high client satisfaction is maintained.
  • Work closely with all departments to ensure that all tasks and requirements are completed accurately and in a timely and professional manner as per the arranged schedule.
  • Maintain clear communication of event requirements and updates to all Departments.
  • Proactively develop and maintain relationships with all event partners, hirers, suppliers, and any other key contacts.
  • Maintain up-to-date event files, ensuring all work activities and relevant information are recorded in our Centre’s USI Customer Relationship Management (CRM) booking system and database.
  • Ensure compliance internally and with ISO9001, and where necessary ISO22000, ensuring all records are appropriately kept.
  • Ensure organisational and regulatory Work Health and Safety requirements are met.
  • Provide administrative support for the Events department and Event Services Manger.
  • Always represent Darwin Convention Centre in a professional manner.  
  • Any other duties and tasks as directed by the Event Supervisor or Event Services Manager.

  • Understanding of Food and Beverage and Special Event Operations
  • Flexible working hours – event-based roster including after hours and weekends where required
  • Hold a valid RSA
  • Intermediate / advanced knowledge of computer and Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent personal presentation and grooming
  • High quality of communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • High attention to detail
  • Proven ability to use initiative
  • Willingness to work as a team

A satisfactory National Police Records Check is required for this role.
