IRONMAN Oceania has a rare opportunity to work for the global leader in mass-participation sporting events.

We are on the hunt for an event superstar to manage the athlete experience and customer service for a portfolio of iconic races all around Australia and New Zealand - including travel to incredible destinations to deliver amazing experiences to tens of thousands of athletes.

For the right candidate, this unique role could be based in our Sydney, Noosa or Auckland office, working with a great team of passionate event professionals at the top of their game. Our Athlete Services team support our athletes throughout their journey from event entry, getting to the start line to crossing the finish line. Providing the administration, customer service and event information support to our events.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide high level of customer service through efficient and timely email and phone communication to pre-event athlete enquiries and friendly face to face interaction at events.
  • Ensure event websites, apps, EDM communications and athlete guides are providing up to date, easy to find and accurate event information.
  • Create, test and launch event registration online entry forms on our registration platforms, ensuring the accurate collection athlete data.
  • Provide the administrative management of athlete data in line with relevant Privacy legislation. This encompasses managing large amounts of athlete data, ensuring its accuracy and producing event time reports for both internal and external supplier needs.
  • Create and manage the event timelines and milestones for the Athlete Service deliverables in the event planning stages.
  • Manage the design and ordering of athlete items such as event t-shirts, medals, trophies, backpacks and race kits.
  • Produce the operational documentation for successful event delivery across key areas such as Athlete Check In, Event Information, Start/Finish Lines, Sports Production and Commentary, Awards and Functions.
  • Provide management, training and leadership to 2-4 direct reports and support to the wider Athlete Services team.
  • Input into event development that drives innovations and improves the overall athlete experience.
  • Attend events and manage all athlete activity on the ground.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • A minimum of three years’ experience in the sports or events industry.
  • A tertiary qualification in Event Management, or similar (significant event industry experience may be considered to replace tertiary qualification).
  • Outstanding customer service skills (virtually and in person).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of competency in Excel, ideally with experience in report generation, database management and analytics.
  • Experience with managing registration, CRM or database software platforms and an understanding of technical functionality and APIs advantageous.
  • Current First Aid Certificate, valid Working with Children Check (Employee) and Drivers Licence.
  • Energetic, personable and loves being part of a team.
  • Adaptable to changing and fast-paced work conditions.
