Salary: £25,742 to £26,444 with progression to £27,979 per annum

The Role
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Faculty’s Professional Services Team, based in the School of Computing as Events & Communications Administrator.
Working as part of a team you will be a key point of contact for all events within the School and ensuring the implementation of School communications plans. This will include the coordination of School newsletters, social media accounts, webpages/intranet updates etc and delivering events. You will support the Communications Lead in enhancing the School’s reputation and profile both internally and externally whilst supporting the School’s strategic objectives.
You will be a confident communicator and have great interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships with all colleagues and students. It is essential that you have recent experience of Microsoft Office. A forward thinking, proactive and positive “can do” attitude and flexible approach is vital to ensure the success of the role. Your ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels will ensure you are a key member of our team.

Key Accountabilities

  • To take responsibility for the delivery of professional and effective events within the School
  • To deliver best practice in event management through gathering post event feedback, and for comparator and competitor analysis. To then implement those practices, in conjunction with relevant teams, to ensure the School utilizes all opportunities for and from these activities
  • To take responsibility for information gathering tools that support the School’s communications and events plan, ensuring colleagues in the School are aware, and make use of these mechanisms to share their news, success stories, opportunities etc
  • To support a range of multi-channel marketing campaigns and projects highlighting School successes, facilities and activities for a range of B2B and B2C audiences
  • To support the delivery of Continued Professional Development (CPD) events and activity within the School working closely with Faculty colleagues
  • To lead and maintain relevant administrative systems and processes necessary to support the delivery, monitoring and evaluation of engagement and events activities
  • To coordinate the work of support staff to ensure effective delivery of events
  • To work as part of a wider team and to undertake other duties within the scope and general nature of the grade which may be required

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Good IT skills with experience of Microsoft suite of programmes
  • Experience of maintaining webpages and social media accounts
  • An excellent communicator both verbally and in writing with the ability to tailor messages to the appropriate audiences

  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and to manage competing deadlines
  • Experience of working independently and as part of a team
  • Experience of working with a range of stakeholders, including senior managers in a large organisation

Qualifications
  • Maths and English at GCSE Level 4 or equivalent plus relevant experience in a communication/events setting
