We’re seeking an experienced and proactive Events Manager who will be responsible for the end-to-end planning, management and high-quality delivery of a diverse and exciting range of LGNSW corporate events. The successful candidate will manage the events team, including external contractors, manage task allocation, and evaluate all timelines and deadlines to deliver events.
About LGNSW
Local Government NSW (LGNSW) is the peak body for councils and related organisations in our State. LGNSW advocates on behalf of members and their communities on policy to decision makers at state and federal levels. We also provide a comprehensive range of services including industrial relations representation, management services and training.
About the role
Reporting to the Director Events and Learning, the Events Manager will play an integral role in coordinating the ongoing review and continual improvement of LGNSW’s exciting and dynamic events program. The role also involves:
- Creating new concepts for social and gala conference events to ensure all events encompass best practice stakeholder engagement, risk management plans and creative elements.
- Evaluating expressions of interest to host events from member councils and conducting site inspections with local councils.
- Managing all pre-production, post-production, and evaluation requirements for LGNSW’s event program and ancillary events.
- Leading conference committees, steering and creating program content, sourcing, and selecting speakers and facilitating stakeholder involvement and commitments in consultation with the Chief Executive, President and Director Events and Learning.
- Monitoring the community and political scene to reflect current issues in event theming and programming, including consultation with LGNSW’s Advocacy team.
- Contributing to a positive, collaborative, and innovative organisational culture, providing insight and input into business planning.

About you
You will have demonstrated experience in managing teams, aligning event selection, content and sponsors with strategic and operational plans and being responsible for budget preparation and management to achieve targets. You are highly organised with a strong emphasis on time management and have the capability to adjust and adapt your workload to meet competing priorities. Your strengths will be your oral and written communication, excellent interpersonal skills, and capacity to build and maintain effective relationships with a range of stakeholders.
Essential Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in event management or significant industry experience.
- Experience managing teams of at least 2 – 4 direct reports.
- Demonstrated experience in successfully managing and delivering face to face and online events and conferences.
- Copywriting and event marketing experience.
- Extensive experience using a CRM and event management systems.
- Budget management skills.
- Highly developed interpersonal, negotiation and conflict management skills.
- Experience strategically developing events in line with business objectives.
- Sound knowledge of events risk management principles and practices.
- Sponsorship and partnership experience.
- Solid report writing and correspondence preparation skills.
