Job description

Embark on a rewarding career journey with the Anglican Schools Commission (ASC) as the Events Officer in a part-time (4 day week) Maternity Cover role, from August 2024 to June 2025. As the Events Officer, you will be instrumental in planning, promoting, and executing a variety of projects and events for the ASC, its schools, and Anglican Schools Australia (ASA).

Your Role in Our Vision

As the Events Officer, you will bring strong operational event knowledge, exceptional organisational skills, and a keen eye for detail. You should have prior event management experience, the ability to work independently under tight deadlines, and report directly to the Director of Communications and Engagement. This position is initially part-time but may transition to full-time for the ideal candidate.

The Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and have responsibility for the successful planning, coordination, execution and review of events or campaigns.
  • Undertake reviews of events to ensure ongoing effectiveness including post-event evaluations, gathering feedback from stakeholders and providing detailed reports on event outcomes and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare clear and detailed documents for the planning of the events including run sheets, meeting agendas and schedules.
  • Develop and execute marketing plans for events, including social media promotion, email campaigns, and collaboration with the communications team.
  • Liaise with and book onsite and external venues.
  • Identify, negotiate, and manage relationships with vendors, including catering, decorators, and technical services.
  • Assist in the coordination of ASC and ASA facilitated events.
  • Consult and communicate with organisers, attendees and officers regarding events. 
  • Ensure allocated work tasks are undertaken within budget and agreed timelines.

About You

  • Support the ASC's Vision, Core Purpose, Values, and Strategic Direction.
  • Relevant qualifications or demonstrated experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated capability for effective collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Outstanding attention to detail, quality and integrity, with strong conceptual and analytical skills. 
  • Flexibility in working hours to accommodate event schedules and willingness to travel and work away from home on occasion.
  • Strong planning, organising, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Support for the ethos of The Anglican Schools Commission.
