About the opportunity

Southern Cross University is seeking an Events Officer to coordinate University events held on campus by staff, students and external clients. The Events Officer role serves as the main point of contact for event clients and suppliers from initial planning phases through to event delivery and completion. This position will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and support the coordination of events. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate services for designated events, including liaising with internal and external stakeholders, and overseeing event set up, event coordination and pack down of events.
  • Manage incoming event enquiries and serve as main point of contact for event clients and suppliers from initial planning phases through to event delivery and completion.
  • Supervise and coordinate casual event staff and volunteers for internal and external events.
  • Develop marketing content for University events and promotion of services.
  • Provide administrative services to the Events Team and manage and monitor incoming event enquiries.
About you

You will be passionate about using your organisational skills, creativity and ability to work collaboratively with others to coordinate impactful events that showcase SCU’s brand and student life. More specifically you will have:

  • A relevant qualification at Certificate level and relevant administrative experience, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage effectively in a small team environment with effective written communication skills.
  • Proven interpersonal skills and commitment to excellence in customer service.
Salary and benefits

Our staff benefit from flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work models, generous parental and carer’s leave provisions, wellbeing initiatives, employee assistance programs and professional learning opportunities. This position is:

  • Full-time, fixed-term (6 months)
  • Located at our Lismore campus.
  • HEW Level 4. The base salary ranges from $69,473 - $74,607 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $87,290.
