Job description

HSBC Australia

Some career choices have more impact than others.

At HSBC we exist with the purpose of Opening up a World of Opportunity. We use our unique expertise, capabilities, breadth and perspectives to provide opportunities for our customers and colleagues through global connectivity. We bring together the people, ideas and capital that nurture progress and growth, helping to create a better world – for our customers, our people, our investors, our communities and the planet we all share.

As an HSBC employee in Australia, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities, competitive pay, an embedded flexible working culture and a range of employee benefits. These include market-leading subsidised private health cover, enhanced parental pay and support when returning to work, subsidised banking products and services, bonus leave days and wellness programmes including discounted gym memberships.

HSBC Global Banking offers a universal banking model, delivering a seamless service to our clients through a global network of relationship managers and product specialists. Offering vast expertise and local knowledge, especially in emerging markets, Global Banking products and services have been designed to meet the global financial needs of our clients, whatever and wherever they are.

Taking on the role of Executive Assistant with HSBC’s Global Banking business, you will support the Head of Real Asset Finance, Australia, and the Head of Institutional Coverage Group, Australia and their teams. You will also have the opportunity to support the broader Global Banking division as needed, in collaboration with a team of talented EAs and PAs.  Being a self-starter, you will be someone who combines sound judgement with the ability to work independently, excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with a broad range of individuals and groups.

In this varied role, you will use your exceptional organisational skills to tackle a range of administrative and business-related responsibilities, becoming an integral part of this close-knit team where you can really make a difference as you continue to build your career as a business support professional in the HSBC global network.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Providing comprehensive executive and administrative support to the Global Banking business.
  • Diary management, ensuring thorough briefings on upcoming appointments and meetings.
  • Organising domestic and international travel arrangements and booking meetings, restaurants and events as required.
  • Co-ordinating overseas visitors’ agendas and taking meeting minutes as required.
  • Communicating and collaborating with other EA/PAs to enhance overall organisational effectiveness.
  • Monitoring of inbox and phone messages and responding to communications where appropriate.
  • Handling the registration and management of gifts and hospitality requests.
  • Supporting the team with cost reimbursements, expenses, and reporting.
  • Supporting the team with the onboarding of new starters.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong experience delivering high quality Executive assistance in a complex corporate or financial services environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective stakeholder relationships across the business both locally and globally, at all levels.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to navigate change and shifting and competing priorities, with your exceptional planning and organisational skills.
  • Initiative to anticipate needs and proactively support the business.
  • Confident proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

Preference will be given to candidates who hold Australian PR/Citizenship or New Zealand Citizenship, or who can demonstrate current unrestricted work rights in Australia without limitations.

We value different perspectives, we succeed together, collaborating across boundaries, we take responsibility, holding ourselves accountable to get things done. Through these values, HSBC is committed to building a culture where all employees are appreciated and respected and where opinions count. We take pride in providing a workplace that fosters continuous professional development, flexible working and opportunities to grow in an inclusive environment. Applications from First Nations peoples are encouraged.
