The Gig
We are looking for a passionate Executive Chef to lead our established Vegetarian restaurant in Canberra. Whilst our candidate does not have to be Vegetarian based themselves, a passion for this growing demand and market will be important. This is a Full-Time role and will require flexibility within your availability. Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
Responsible for maintaining an immaculate and well-organised kitchen and all back of house operations
Recipe tasting and menu creation
Selecting, hiring and training all culinary staff. Leading by example and maintaining an open line of communication, whilst setting high standards for culinary personnel
Mentor, Coach and Train the kitchen brigade- be hands on
Scheduling of kitchen staff as well as maintaining labour goals for the back of the house
Product ordering and food inventory
Work closely with general manager to enhance knowledge of P&L and budgeting
Be able too deliver both Vegetarian Food but also cater for the Conferencing and Events that are not Vego
About you
Are you looking for a complete change? Ovolo Hotels is searching for an experienced and hard-working Executive Chef to lead our culinary team to service excellence. To be successful for this role, you will have a minimum 5-7 years' experience as an Executive Chef, Head Chef or similar within the culinary space. You will have a passion for plant-based products and food culture which will help you thrive in this role. Preferably, you will hold a degree in culinary arts as well as prior vegan/vegetarian experience and knowledge. A Food Safety Handler certificate is a must, as well as experience in a high-volume restaurant. Leadership, communication and organisational skills will be your superpower, as well as being highly innovative, curious and have a passion to create! Most importantly, you will be FABULOUS. UNCONVENTIONAL. & NEVER BORING.
