What you will do asthe Executive Director, Future of Network Regulation

The Executive Director will be responsible for leading the work to implement the new gas regulatory framework, leading the work to develop a new value for the customer reliability measure and a value of high impact and low probability work, overseeing the work to amend guidelines to incorporate the new emissions objective and new value of emissions, supporting further refinement of incentive schemes, and supporting the ongoing development of work on export services. The Executive Director will also oversee any new projects that involve the future refinement of our network regulatory framework. 

The Executive Director, Future of Network Regulation will: 
•    Lead the ongoing work of the gas network reform team. This will include implementing project plans and governance structures where there is effective communication with a Project Board of General Managers from multiple divisions
•    Lead work to develop a new value for the customer reliability measure within the required statutory timeframe, a value for high impact and low probability events, lead engagement with key external stakeholders such as the AEMC, governments and the AEMC’s Reliability Panel
•    Oversee the work to incorporate the new emissions objective and a new value of emissions in our guidelines, and work with Branches in the AER, and engaging with the Policy team to work with external stakeholders, in particular market bodies and officials
•    Represent the AER authoritatively to advance AER interests internally and externally, cultivating and maintaining relationships with industry, market bodies, other regulators, Governments (Commonwealth and State), and consumer groups. 

About you

In order to succeed in the role, you will have:

•    Demonstrated understanding of the Australian electricity and gas markets; the role, purpose and objectives of the AER and the complex political and stakeholder environment within which the AER operates.
•    Relevant tertiary qualifications in law, economics, public policy or related fields are desirable.

Salary: $155,684 (plus 15.4% superannuation). The role may also have an allowance of up 10% to recognise the higher work value.  Please note that all IFAs are reviewed annually in accordance with the IFA policy and are not ongoing.
