About the role
Reporting directly to the Program Executive and Clinical Lead of the Reform Office, you will support the Associate Director-General in strategic and operational matters relating to the Queensland health system reform agenda. You will be an established leader and be responsible for approximately 40 staff members. As a leader you will support and drive a holistic view of system-wide reform priorities and translate strategic and evidence-based direction into action to ensure system outcomes. Additionally, you will lead the joint development of system-wide reform priorities in collaboration with other federal and State government departments, HHS, state agencies, non-governmental partner agencies, and other key stakeholders.
About you
The successful candidate will have highly developed knowledge and understanding of governmental procedures and processes. Your interpersonal skills will be of high level, with a natural ability to build influential and productive relationships across internal and external departments. You will have proven experience in a similar large complex organisation where you were responsible for the design and implementation of significant projects and strategies. You will have a high level of understanding of systems and processes with an ability to provide advice on a broad range of complex matters. You will be a natural leader with the ability to lead and manage a large multi-disciplinary team.
About Strategy, Policy and Reform Division
Strategy, Policy and Reform Division (SPRD) is in the Department of Health and is responsible for driving the strategic agenda for public health in Queensland. SPRD works closely with other Queensland government agencies and cross-jurisdictional colleagues, including at the Commonwealth level.
Key strategic functions are brought together under SPRD that develop policies and legislation to guide and protect the health of the community, design communication activities, campaigns and strategies to engage and empower Queenslanders to improve their health, lead and manage Queensland Health's system sustainability reform, including through funding strategy and lead special projects of critical importance.
About the Reform Office
The Reform Office leads and manages Queensland Health's system sustainability reform agenda, including the development of a framework for change for the next generation of healthcare for Queenslanders, developing and implementing lasting reform to ensure the system can meet current and future demand, as well as contributing to a range of intra and intergovernmental policy priorities. The primary goals of the Reform Office are to:
- Lead and drive the development, implementation and delivery of system-wide reforms across the State, focused on building a resilient and sustainable health system through innovation, continuous improvement, and understanding emerging challenges throughout the network.
- Contribute to the strategic development and management of SPRD, and provide advice on high level strategic policy, planning and implementation issues consistent with the division's overall direction and objectives.
