The Organisation:
Since 1997, The Gumala Trust (GIPL) has been operating as a “safe pair of hands”, managing the sizeable investment portfolio of the General Gumala Foundation. Its purpose is to ensure the best interests of its beneficiaries, the Banjima, Nyiyaparli and Yinhawangka people, are being met both now and in the future.
The Position:
Reporting to the Chairperson through the Board, you will be accountable for ensuring that GIPL complies with its obligations as Trustee.
Your core duties will include:
- Compliance with the Trust Deed;
- Financial management including budgeting and reporting;
- Strategic planning;
- Manage key stakeholder relationships with both beneficiaries as well as with related entities, government agencies and also Rio Tinto;
- Ensure appropriate risk and compliance frameworks are in place;
- Leadership of a small, close-knit team
About You:
This is an important and highly influential role that will require:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in either accountancy, law or governance;
- Proven capability to manage within a strict government framework;
- Financial literacy and experience in reporting to a Board;
- A proactive and empathetic leader, capable of building a cohesive team environment;
- You will bring a very good understanding of working with Indigenous communities or in a cross-cultural context;
- High level communication skills and ability to build highly respectful relationships;
- Well developed analytical and report writing skills; and
- An outcomes-focused and strategic mindset.
