About the role
The role of the Exercise Physiologist is to support NDIS participants, Home Care Package and Fee For Service clients to achieve their health, fitness and well-being goals through assessment and interventions tailored to suit their individual needs. This position is responsible for designing programs to assist people living with issues related to ageing; mental health; intellectual disability or chronic disease to improve their physical wellbeing.
They will act as a pillar for professional development within the practice and will actively seek to enhance the practices, procedures and protocols within the Allied Health Team.
- Establish goals in collaboration with the participant or relevant others to improve social and economic participation
- Support skill development and identify ways to engage participants to maximise their potential and independence
- Prescribe evidence-based exercises for a variety of conditions and disabilities to enhance independence, endurance and well-being
- Deliver services and support with a high level of customer service
- Implement and evaluate interventions according to goal achievement, outcome and effectiveness
- Educate participants and families/carers on intervention implementation
- Develop appropriate reports explaining clients current functional status, exercise program, and needs
- Keep accurate and complete records of work activities in accordance with legislative requirements
- Ensure all financial records, billing and invoices are completed in a timely manner
- Maintain an understanding of community/client needs and engage in planning, strategic direction setting and implementation of new directions
- Support and contribute to projects, internal working parties and ongoing quality improvements processes
About You
- Minimum 1 year post graduate experience preferably in a community role
- Degree in Exercise Physiology and Current registration with EESA
- A strong understanding of the impacts of disability and ageing on physical, emotional and psychosocial wellbeing
- Clinical experience in the prescription of exercises for people with chronic health conditions and disabilities
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of person-centred care, quality improvement and evidence-based practice and a commitment to implementing these concepts in practice
- Demonstrated ability to produce high quality reports and support plans in line with funder requirements
