A position is available for an Experienced Livestock Hand or Couple on a privately-owned cattle station at Bogie in the Whitsunday Region of north Queensland. The station invests a lot of time in their cattle and breeds, fattens, and finishes a well-handled Droughtmaster herd.
Duties include all tasks associated with the daily running of a cattle station including mustering by horse, yard work, windmill, pump and water maintenance, welding, fencing and mechanical servicing.
The position commences on a casual basis, can become permanent for the right worker/s and is best suited to a hardworking and trustworthy Experienced Livestock Hand or Couple with strong horse ability including mustering by horse while working horses of all levels of experience (and there is also the opportunity to break in the station bred horses), and in all aspects of yard work; with the owner willing to teach water maintenance, welding, fencing and mechanical servicing skills. A manual driver’s licence and your own vehicle for private use are essential and an HR truck licence is preferred.
You can negotiate a daily rate matching your experience and the position comes with air-conditioned accommodation including electricity and meat. You can bring a maximum of 3 horses, or 5 for a Couple, but your own horses are not a necessity. Domestic pets are strictly outside only and by negotiation. Bogie is 45 minutes’ drive to Collinsville, an hour to Bowen on the coast and you can be in Airlie Beach, Townsville, or Mackay in under 3 hours. And applicants who progress to an interview on station should be prepared to demonstrate their strong horse ability working cattle.
