Rural Health Management Services have a position available for a Practice Management Officer on a full time basis to support our practices in the Wide Bay/Burnett Region. Rural Health Management Services currently own or managed 14 General Practices across Queensland. Within the Wide Bay/Burnett region we currently own/manage 5 practices with 2 outreach clinics.

The Practice Management Officer works under the direction of the COO for RHMS. At all times, the Practice Management Officer retains responsibility for his/her actions and remains accountable to the RHMS COO for all delegated functions.

The main role of the position is to provide leadership, support and supervision to a team of clinical and other staff within medical practices to fully support the delivery of high-quality care to clients.
The position is accountable for the provision of high-level advice and support to staff of the allocated practices to enable them to:
- Fully support the delivery of high-quality health care to patients.
- Ensure a safe and hygienic standard of care to patients.
- Work safely within the guidelines of the Occupational Health and Safety Policies.
- Effective and high level of performance of staff other than Medical Practitioners;
- Organisational review and personnel management functions for the team of staff carrying out a range of clerical, technical and professional activities are provided in a timely and efficient way;
- Maintenance of the assets of the practice;
- Compliance with the Quality Management System and internal policies and procedures;
Selection Criteria:
A professional manner and presentation and able to work independently and as part of a team;
- A broad understanding of the requirements of a small to medium business;
- An understanding of the delivery of General Practice and broader Primary Healthcare services;
- Experience in Best Practice software
- Knowledge of WIP and PIP incentives
- Strong organisational skills, an ability to set priorities, plan and act to achieve desired outcomes within the specified time frame;
- Strong IT skills and knowledge in the use of data bases, Microsoft office suite and General Practice software;
- Strong communication, mentoring and motivational skills;
- Possess a Blue Card; and
- Satisfactory criminal history check
Desirable Qualifications Education and/or Experience
- Previous experience in a general practice environment;
- Knowledge and ability to use a range of clinical software found in the General Practice setting;
- Training or experience in management of emergencies, handling complaints, Medicare item numbers and health funds, basic infection control, safe handling and disposal of medical waste;
- Understanding of medical terminology; and
- Possession of current Queensland drivers license.
- CPR/Triage training and/or experience;
- Have undertaken cultural awareness training;
