Northern Star Resources are seeking a strong Experienced Senior Mining Engineer, with the capability and willingness to carry outAlternate Underground Manager duties, to join our underground team at the new Fimiston Underground mine located at KCGM, Kalgoorlie.
This role can either be Kalgoorlie residential or FIFO for the ideal candidateon an 8:6 roster, working 12-hour shifts per day.
This challenging and dynamic role will enable an Experienced Senior Mining Engineer to lead a technical team of scheduling, drill and blast and graduate engineers, driving safe production from the operational team. With the additional functionality of Alternate Underground Manager, this role paves the way to those looking for their next career step. The Fimiston Underground life of asset currently spans 32 years and offers multiple future opportunities. Key accountabilities:
- Lead and co-ordinate drill & blast and ancillary designs for the Mining Engineers in line with the weekly plan.
- Providing guidance and coaching to the Planning & Scheduling Engineers.
- Main point of contact to the NSMS Mine Foreman for planning and executing the weekly plan and holding the technical team accountable.
- Responsible for managing stope reconciliation, highlighting areas of risk and opportunities.
- Accountability to ensure blast vibration monitoring, recording, and reporting is compliant with site and statutory requirements of site.
- Contribute and support the Underground Manager in facilitating DMIRS visits, inspections, and investigations.
- Cover Alternate Underground Manager functionality as required and utilise knowledge to provide statutory guidance to the operation.
Requirements:
Essential
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years UG hard rock mining experience
- First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency
- Experience using Deswik CAD and Scheduler packages
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Strong leadership skills and experience leading a diverse team of new-to-industry engineers
- Ability to hold themselves and others accountable to their roles and responsibilities
- Current Unencumbered Western Australian "C" Class Drivers Licence
Preferred
- Experience working with a mining contractor
- Experience in a mine that utilises Sub Level Caving, Modified Avoca or Sub Level Open Stoping
- Underground Mine Rescue Experience
- Experience using Power BI
