Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) provides global strategic maritime, cargo and supply chain solutions to shipowners and operators who span all geographies, market segments, vessels and asset types. Inchcape Shipping Services today, handles over 10000 port calls per annum in the Australasian region employing approximately 400 people in over 35 port offices. The ISS Australasia team is spread across three key functional areas - Port Agency, Liner Agency and Marine Surveying.
Reporting to the Regional Operations Centre, the Export/Import Coordinator is responsible for:
- Identifying local and overseas business opportunities for Australasia
- Prepare quotes and pricing to potential customers.
- Determining products and services to be provided and negotiating conditions of trade
- Plan, organise and coordinate shipping operations
- Arranging the Imports/Exports for our customers.
- Preparing export & import documentation and invoices to assist cargo movement
- Timely lodgment of manifests as per regulatory and process requirements
- Handling customer service enquiries in a professional manner
- Generating accurate documentation with minimal errors in compliance with Inchcape and statutory legislation.
- Receiving and generating Bills of Lading based on information presented by the customer
- Ensuring the timely and accurate handling of vessel balancing processes to enable appropriate document management and release
- Checking customer payments are reconciled correctly
- Generating and distributing DOs, tax invoices, import manifests and other appropriate documentation as per regulatory and liner requirements
- Ensuring appropriate attention to detail and handling of all documentation, ensuring the correct release process is followed
- Ensuring appropriate invoices are generated and provided to customers
- Identifying regulatory and statutory requirements affecting the importing, exporting and distribution.
- Promoting e-commerce within the market
Selection criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications in a related field
- At least 2 years’ experience in the shipping or cargo industry
- Demonstrated knowledge of shipping import/export documentations
- Fluent in English – both written and spoken
- Ability to work towards a deadline
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- High level of computer literacy
- Knowledge of IMO Hazardous
