Facilities Shift Engineer

Job Description:
The Facilities Shift Engineer is accountable for supporting the maintenance, and documentation of Data Centre operations and ensures effective execution of processes and procedures for the uptime of the facilities.
The role encompasses all aspects of Data Canter operations including the operation, maintenance and repair of all mission critical equipment and systems to support 24x7 data centre operation.

The Role

• Supporting the maintenance of electrical & mechanical infrastructure.
• Manage contractors and service staff.
• Conduct inspections, surveys and develop recommendations and specifications to improve, repair or modify Electrical & Mechanical infrastructure.
• Interface with building management systems (BMS) and other automated tools.
• Maintain appropriate vendor relationships.
• Support accurate and timely reporting on all aspects of the Data Centre's operations.
• Enforce compliance with all OH&S procedures and requirements.
• Support the Facilities Engineering Manager - Chief Engineer during their absence.

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience data centre's facility management would be well regarded.
• Strong communication skills.
• Operational knowledge of electrical distribution; switchgear, transformers, automatic transfer switch, UPS, STS, DRUPS, battery management systems, generators, and PDUs to the branch level.
• Operational knowledge of Chillers, DX systems, CRAH/CRAC unit, dehumidifiers, water pumps, leak detection, VFDs, cooling towers, digital controls and BMS, and fire detection and suppression.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to successfully interact with both internal and external customers.
• Strong trouble-shooting and organizational skills.
• Familiarity of local/national regulatory codes, guidelines, and permit processes.
• Competent use of Computerized Maintenance Tools (CMMS, BMS, DCIM).
• Strong excel skill.
