About the Australian National Fabrication Facility (ANFF-Qld)
is a not-for-profit research infrastructure facility established under the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy. ANFF is a network of 8 nodes distributed throughout Australia, filled with over $200 million of investment in tooling, infrastructure and people.
ANFF’s Queensland Node (ANFF-Q) is a state-of-the-art Fabrication Facility specialising in microfluidics, organic electronics and opto-electronics, biomaterials, novel semiconductor materials and characterisation. ANFF-Q has facilities within the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) and the (COPE) at The University of Queensland and within the (QMNC) and the (QMF) at Griffith University, as well as the ability to facilitate access to ANFF sites at 17 other universities around Australia.

About This Opportunity
You will provide operational management of the UQ ANFF Node, including responsibility for: equipment purchase; personnel management; business development and marketing; access planning and implementation; access tracking and invoicing and user feedback.
Key responsibilities will include:
Duties and responsibilities, as directed by your supervisor, include, but are not limited to:
Provide operational management of the UQ ANFF Node. This includes direct management of the UQ sites and liaising with management at the Griffith University sites;
Manage the planning, purchase, installation and ongoing maintenance of all ANFF equipment. This will include risk management of aging equipment and contingency planning for catastrophic failures;
Manage the specialist facilities such as the clean room environments, including any new building work to be undertaken;
Financial management of the node including billing, debt collection, client account management. This also includes the management of grant funding that supports the node through various schemes and from various entities;
Responsibility for business development activities and marketing;
Manage the access to the facility including policy, procedures, OHS requirements and training. User feedback will also be handled through this position;
Line management of operations personnel of UQ ANFF Node;
Tracking and reporting of all aspects of facility usage including user numbers and hours, type of access and funding sources, and outputs facilitated through access;
Management of all contracts required by funding bodies and sub-contracts to Griffith University;
Prepare all reports required by funding entities, access and management committees and other reports required by the UQ ANFF Node;
Chair the UQ ANFF Node Access Committee and the ANFF Management Committee;
Represent ANFF-Q at the national Facility managers meeting;
Any other duties as reasonably directed by your supervisor.

This is a full-time (100%), fixed-term position through to 30 June 2028.
At HEW level 9, the full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $127,496.67 - $134,829.23, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $149,171.11 - $157,750.20annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.
About You
Postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or extensive management experience and proven management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Demonstrated experience in the running of a Fabrication Facility with internal and external customer base;
Demonstrated experience and ability to establish and implement business development and marketing strategies;
Desirable
PhD in the area of chemistry, physics or engineering;
Developed industry liaisons and professional contacts;
Experience in liaising and collaborating with external agencies to develop co-operative research initiatives;
Experience in grant writing and fundraising.
Experience in research contract management and reporting;
Evidence of a contribution to research and research management;
Evidence of a contribution to facilities and team management;
Responsible approach to equipment use and maintenance;
Evidence of a contribution to effective relationships, representation and promotion of such a facility at a university and wider community level, including industry, government and professional bodies;
Ability to learn new skills and use new technologies;
Ability to keep detailed records and author technical reports;
Organisational and problem-solving skills;
Time management skills and demonstrated ability to work within deadlines;
High level communication skills, with a high degree of professionalism essential for dealing with external clients.
