POSITION OVERVIEW

We are recruiting for a Family Engagement Practitioner working full time, 8.30am - 5.30pm. The position will be at Family and Child Connect, Ipswich.

Working within Kummara, this position will deliver outreach, short-term, 6-week case work to families, children, and caregivers to facilitate community connectedness, social learning, good health, and wellbeing. 

This position will work in partnership with community, other agencies, and professionals to ensure family's needs are met and create opportunities and referral pathways for positive family functioning and wellbeing.

KEY DUTIES/ABOUT THE ROLE - Family Engagement Practitioner

  • Provide culturally sensitive and competent practice and resources to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, CALD families and non-Indigenous families.
  • Identify family needs using specified tools and undertake screening and assessment of risks and needs of children and young people.
  • Provide information, advice, referral, and linkage to relevant services, as appropriate to the assessed level of need.
  • The role requires the ability to manage a caseload.
  • Regularly attend and participate in case consultations.
  • Maintain positive relationships with government, NGO, and community organisations to ensure collaboration with other agencies to ensure integrated approaches.
  • Maintain accurate records, report writing and data entry requirements in line with professional standards.
  • DV experience would be advantageous.

QUALIFICATIONS

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS POSITION YOU WILL NEED:

  1. Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., degree in social work or similar discipline)
  2. Working with Children Blue Card (mandatory)
  3. Queensland Driver’s licence (mandatory)
  4. Experience in the community services sector
  5. High level of written and verbal communication skills; you will be confident when documenting case notes and competent in using database systems
  6. Excellent relationship building skills
  7. Effective interpersonal skills (including but not limited to communication, conflict resolution, leadership, and positive attitude)
