SDN Beranga, Autism Specific Preschool, Rooty Hill 

Work type

Permanent Part time.

8 hours per day, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

What you'll do
 

  • Coach educators and therapists to:
    • Implement family-centred practices
    • Use strengths-based language and practice
    • Identify risk factors for children and families
  • Support parents to advocate for their child's needs
  • The main point of contact for families and support them through enrolment by running information sessions as well as individual orientation sessions to encourage smooth transitions into the centre.
  • Liaise and build strong partnerships with key stakeholders including Family Community Services and relevant Family Preservation agencies to ensure children at risk receive support that results in positive outcomes for them
  • Oversee transition supports for families as they move onto either mainstream educational and care centres or school, and support educators and therapists to work with families and external stakeholders during the transition process
  • Explore and connect families to relevant resources or organisations available to support their community participation
  • Support connection, community and relationships among the Beranga families through the development of networking events and opportunities

Your team

SDN Beranga is committed to providing high quality early childhood education and care to children aged between 3 and 5 years old diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Our aim is to provide each child and family an individualised approach to suit their needs.

Who you are
 

  • University qualifications in Social Work, with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • Demonstrated understanding of strengths-based, solution focussed approaches
  • Demonstrated understanding of coaching, facilitating and bridging approaches to build the capacity of adults working in centres with young children, or the ability to acquire this ability
  • Demonstrated understanding of child development, models of parenting and family dynamics and the ability to coach others to understand these practices in a culturally sensitive way
  • Experience in community development models of practice
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to engage in meaningful self-reflection
  • Demonstrated skill in contributing social work expertise to a team to influence practice
  • Ability to market or sell a service or program and manage own caseload
  • Current Working with Children's Check (NSW) and National Police Check.
