Women’s Legal Service QLD is one of the state’s largest community legal services with over 70 permanent employees and circa 200 volunteers who passionately support everything the organisation stands for.
Your New Role
Whether you are coming on board as an advice solicitor, casework solicitor or part of the domestic violence unit, one thing is the same- the teams are supportive, cohesive and collaborative.
Working alongside some of the most passionate and talented female lawyers, your day to day responsibilities may include:
Providing legal advice, casework, representation and referrals to clients in domestic violence, child protection and family law matters during face to face appointments and telephone advice and on occasions at outreach locations.
Representing clients in the Family Law Court, Magistrates Court and Children’s Court as a solicitor advocate or briefing counsel where appropriate;
Providing services to women through a trauma informed practice framework;
Prioritising eligibility for the services of the domestic violence unit by reference to various policies;
Performing Duty Lawyer Services in the Caboolture Magistrates Court; and
Assist with and maintain the Health Justice Partnership in and around the Caboolture area and other health provider sites.

Your Skills Profile
At least 3 years post-admission experience as a lawyer with a background in family law;
Unrestricted practicing certificate;
Ability to communicate effectively and work sensitively with clients from diverse backgrounds; and
Exceptional interpersonal skills and well-developed relationship management skills.
