Farm Manager

What will I contribute? 

As Farm Manager you will be responsible for the operations at our Robinvale farm. This will require the management of crop targets, budgets, quality standard and workforce management.  

Here’s what you’ll be doing: 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Crop Health and Production

• Manage climate and crop inputs to optimise production.
• Identify and investigate pest and disease issues and assign effective corrective actions in accordance with Company protocols and policy.
• Communicate pest and disease issues to direct reports. 
• Undertake regular plant quality checks and discussions with site team and local site management.
• Manage and report plantings progress and health.

Safety

• Undertake WH&S risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to support workplace safety.
• Report safety, incidents, accidents and near misses to the General Manager as required by Company policy.
• Provide safety instruction to employees as required.
• Support the development of a site safety culture and lead by example.
• Contribute effectively to WHS committee meetings and the investigation/resolution of reported incidents.

Budget and Forecasting Input

• Contribute to the development of the site budget and targets.
• Manage the site budget to achieve outcomes.
• Assist with weekly production forecast for all crops on site.

Minimise Operational Risk

• Monitor, calculate and assess energy and water usage requirements. 
• Ensure plants are able to produce first grade quality fruit.

Team Performance

• Manage the site team to deliver required outcomes.
• Manage performance as required.
• Support the development of the desired Company workplace culture.
• Participate in and contribute to management discussions as part of a broader management team.
• Actively engage with management team to achieve labour budget.

What do I need for the role?

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS 

• Tertiary qualifications in agriculture, horticulture or other rural studies or equivalent
• 6 years’ experience in the horticulture industry, managing large sites and groups of people
• High level verbal and written communication skills
• High level consultation, negotiation and influence skills
• Well-developed data analysis and related interpretation capability
