Your Role
This opportunity with a leading agribusiness will see you effectively managing one of the three irrigated farming units in the St. George Region QLD. Your primary focus will be on the annual cropping activities of a 6,000-hectare irrigated aggregation, which includes cotton and other cereal crops.
Reporting to the CEO, you will play a key role in ensuring that the day-to-day operations of the farm run smoothly and that optimal crop production is achieved. Working closely with the experienced management team, you will take ownership of this predominantly contracted business unit.
As a Farm Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of crop production, from planting to harvesting, and ensuring that all activities are carried out safely and efficiently. In this role, you have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the organisation's operation, and its continuous journey towards sustainability.
Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to -
- Lead and manage the established farm team, overseeing daily operations, planning, and procurement while assisting with annual cropping operations.
- Monitor and maintain on-farm resources and assets, such as irrigation infrastructure and machinery, ensuring that they are in good condition and fully operational.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to the farm team and assist in their continuous learning and development.
- Champion a safety culture across all farming operations
- Establish and maintain efficient and effective communication with the management team as well as external consultants, agronomists and contractors to ensure smooth and productive operations of the farm.

Hands-on, practical, and efficient, you will have previous experience in commercial irrigated cropping farming operations, with a proven track record in managing large cropping properties. As a natural leader and effective communicator, you will be responsible for ensuring that the farming crew is well-trained and committed to a culture of safety. Y
our skills in managing people, operations, and budgets, coupled with a good level of computer literacy, will be crucial to your success in this role.
Further to the above, it is important that you can demonstrate the following:
- Strong commercial acumen
- Experience in workforce planning
- High standards of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS)
- Tertiary qualification(s) in agriculture, or equivalent (preferred)
- Knowledge of best practices for cropping (dryland & irrigated)
- Proven experience in crop planning and a proactive approach to modern farming techniques
- Minimum 5 years' management experience on large-scale cropping properties (individuals looking to step into Farm Management are also encouraged to apply)
