Your Role
As the Farm Supervisor, you work closely with the Farm Manager and play a pivotal role in assisting in managing the daily operations of our client's 220ha macadamia property, perfectly located just 25km from Bundaberg. Your role will range from overseeing irrigation through to machinery operation and supervising crews during harvest.
They are also developing an additional 200ha which is due to be planted in 2025 – offering you additional exposure to greenfield development. In addition to the above your role will also include, but not be limited to -
- Providing leadership and mentorship to casual and permanent staff
- Oversee and optimise irrigation scheduling and maintenance to ensure efficient water usage and plant health.
- Supervise the utilisation of farm machinery for tasks like spraying, pruning, planting, and harvesting, ensuring adherence to best practices and safety protocols.
- Develop and implement operational plans and budgets in collaboration with the Farm Manager.
- Conduct regular orchard inspections, monitoring crop health and identifying areas for improvement.
- Liaise with key stakeholders, including agronomists, contractors, and suppliers, to ensure smooth operations.
Our ideal candidate will be highly organised and collaborative, with operational farm experience across tasks such as labour management, maintenance, irrigation, and hands-on orchard work. Whilst previous experience in macadamia’s is not essential, experience in tree cropping / orchard would be highly regarded.
Furthermore, you will be adaptable, flexible, and possess a keen eye for identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement in farm management practices.
- 2-3 years of experience in a leadership role within a horticulture environment, preferably with irrigation and machinery expertise.
- Good understanding of irrigation principles, best practices, and maintenance procedures.
- Proven track record of leading and motivating teams.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively to solve problems and make sound decisions.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety and adherence to safety regulations.
- A keen eye for detail and a passion for maintaining a productive and organized orchard environment.
- $80k - $90k + Super – negotiable for the right candidate
