About the Role
Due to our continued growth, a full-time position within our certified organic farm has become available. We are looking to appoint a driven, hardworking individual with a keen interest in working outdoors. The Farm Supervisor is an integral part of the team, working closely with management and other staff to improve on and build the current commercial certified organic vegetable program.
There is scope within this role to grow and progress within our family owned and operated farm.
Role Overview:
The Farm Supervisor is responsible for carrying out daily tasks (as listed below) in a safe, responsible, efficient manner. You will work effectively, considerately, and cooperatively with other team members and independently as directed. The employee shall be forward thinking, proactive and keen to contribute to the team and operation of the farm at continued high standard.
Job Roles / Tasks:
- Unsupervised management of tasks
- Supervising farm hand team
- Ensure that relevant things are done at the correct time
- Creating and improving systems to increase efficiency
- Ensuing the team are following the relevant systems
- Keeping the team focused on the tasks they are paid to do
- Labour tasks as directed by Operations Manager
- Keeping work area safe, clean and tidy at all times.
- Distribution of orders; packing pallet, delivery docket and load truck.
- Cleaning the sheds and vehicles
- Undertaking farm tasks as directed.
- Tractor driving, ploughing, bed forming, scuffling
- Plant/Engine maintenance and servicing
- Irrigation infrastructure operation/maintenance/Installation
- Machinery operation
- Planting, picking and packing.
- Communicate effectively on all matters with Management, Staff and Contractors
Skills, Experience & Attributes:
- Minimum 3 years experience working with hands (not necessarily in horticulture / farming)
- Good initiative is imperative, with the ability to think ahead.
- Desire to learn and grow at a personal level.
- Effective communication skills are paramount.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Practice confidentiality.
- Respectful of people, land and machinery.
- Good organisational skills, attention to detail, and good awareness of surroundings.
- The ability to consider, plan, and execute particular operations or projects.
- Ability to work outdoors in all kinds of weather.
- Physically fit and capable.
- Experience in tasks listed above is not essential, however, you must have the capacity to learn new skills.
About our farm:
Our family business is located in the Lockyer Valley, Queensland on 100-acres of certified organic land. We are one hour to Brisbane and 45 minutes to Ipswich and Towooomba, offering a rural lifestyle with all the conveniences of a large city centre. Just a short drive to town and you will find banks, pubs, supermarkets, and cafes.
Our farm is nestled in the bush, down a long dirt road, where all you can hear are the birds chirping, and the tractor humming. We work from morning to early afternoon, Monday to Friday, contributing to the production of organic food that feeds the people from Brisbane to Adelaide.
