Located within a commutable distance from the Goondiwindi township is our clients small scale 1,500 SCU beef feedlot enterprise. Goondiwindi boasts a busy social and services hub complimentary to any person looking to relocate or establish themselves within their career of choice. With the ability to self-supply a majority of commodities within their vertically integrated feedlot, an opportunity to join this dynamic team now exists for a passionate, integrity driven Leading Hand.
Reporting directly to the Livestock Manager, the successful candidate will embrace the opportunity to take ownership over the health and welfare within the feedlot in addition to learn and develop their overall leadership and operational skills involved in all key aspects of livestock production. The successful candidate will feature strong values ensuring cattle health and welfare are upheld to a high standard, ensuring best practice is applied across the feedlot.
Duties will include, though are not limited to:
- Health checks over all livestock – detection, pulling and treatment of sick animals.
- Correct and accurate record keeping of all treatments.
- Induction processing and drafting.
- Animal handling, movements, and trucking.
- Assisting in feeding out, machinery operating, and feedlot maintenance as directed.
- General feedlot duties – such as trough cleaning and yard cleanliness.
Essential:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role or equivalent within the feedlot industry.
- Must have a current driver’s licence.
- Experience with Elynx Software.
- Work well independently and within a small, yet dynamic team environment.
Favourable Attributes:
- Awareness and commitment to WH&S.
- Chem Safe Accreditation.
- Machinery tickets or competency in front end loader, skid steer and forklift.
- A current HR/HC license an advantage.
