Located in the beautiful Southern Riverina area of NSW, our client has an established feedlot that is pivotal to their vertically integrated & diversified agricultural interest. They are searching for an experienced Feedlot professional looking to advance their career by taking on a roll in a larger, very well established and well known operation. As a well-established facility, they have an experienced staff already on the ground and systems in place, so they need someone who can slot into the team and keep the wheels turning. The livestock team starts between 6-6:30 am with pen riding, dispatching and inducting before moving to the nearby backgrounding facility to work stock there. As things crop up throughout the day, the successful applicant must pivot their attention to take care of unexpected issues and bookwork.
The successful applicant will be assisting the Feedlot manager by undertaking the following duties:
- Plan and execute all livestock movements in and out of the backgrounding and feedlot facility including receiving, induction and dispatch
- Work closely with various business stakeholders to ensure stock are received and dispatched on schedule.
- Mustering and drafting background stock for transferring to the feedlot
- Co-ordinating staff rostering and daily work assignments
- Proactively undertake staff training and onboarding new employees
- Ensure auditing compliance for record keeping and animal welfare
- Speak into management decisions when required.
- Ensure all feedlot machinery is operated in line with the manufacturer's guidelines.
- Ensure that all company Occupational Health and Safety guidelines are adhered to
- In absence of other managers, step in to cover their duties inline with your skill set.
To be considered for the role, we are looking for applicants who demonstrate the following attributes:
- Experience with Elink system IF3000, Feedbunk, Stockade & NFAS systems
- Experience across all aspects of a large feedlot operation
- Leadership and communication skills
- Staff management & rostering experience
- Chemical handling and Low-Stress Stock Handling Certificates Highly regarded
- Mechanical aptitude & skills will be very highly regarded
