Your new role

We have an excellent opportunity available for an experienced hands on Team Leader to manage our Ferrous department at Kwinana Beach. 

Reporting to the Ferrous Supervisor, you will use your planning & organisational skills to safely oversee yard operations and productivity targets, coordinate logistics requirements, ensure the delivery of excellent customer service and bring a people focus to managing the team and maintaining strong supplier relationships. This is a hands on role, operating metal handling and processing equipment, whilst looking after a small team of experienced operators. 

You will be rewarded with ongoing mentoring opportunities and support from the Operational Leadership Team during your probation period and throughout your career within Sims, working for a sustainable growing business with class-leading technology. 

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading the team by sharing your vision of operational excellence within a safety-oriented environment at our Kwinana Beach facility.
• Maximise sustainable profit margins by establishing and implementing key productivity goals, objectives, and procedures in line with established budgets and forecasts.
• Achieving short and long-term continual improvement initiatives aligned with key global business goals and objectives.
• Use knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and continuous improvement techniques to maximise the effective and safe processing of materials.

Essential Criteria:

• Ability to operate mobile plant and equipment to a high standard. 
• Strong coordination, and planning skills to maintain optimum effectiveness of operations and logistics. 
• Leadership experience in medium to large-scale teams, to effectively manage a high-performing team in a dynamic working environment.
• Ability to build rapport, with a high customer service ethos.
• A self-motivated approach, you will enjoy influencing positive outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to perform reasonable overtime during weekends and evenings in peak periods. 

Desirable criteria:

• In-depth knowledge of Ferrous and Non-Ferrous metal sorting & processing techniques to international specifications being of high advantage.
