In this role you will

  • Configure, test, deploy, and upgrade Traffic Control Systems (Traffic Lights) and other field equipment.
  • Provide expert Level 2 support for Traffic Control Systems, addressing escalations from maintenance service providers.
  • Diagnose and resolve faults in field equipment, including telecommunications issues at 'node' sites.
  • Install, upgrade, relocate, and replace equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Support advanced systems like Smart Motorways, tidal flow systems, light rail, and level crossing interfaces.
  • Build, modify, test, and certify Traffic Control System personalities.
  • Execute project tasks, including new site and phone line installations, relocations, reconstructions, and modifications.
  • Integrate red light speed camera interfaces.
  • Engage in trials of new technology, such as telecommunications services, new firmware, and new controllers.
  • You will be working out of Rockdale and Yennora and Ability to work rostered hours, occasionally outside normal working hours and be part of a on-call roster for 24x7 support and travel across Metropolitan Sydney and regional areas as needed.

About You

  • Proven experience in Intelligent Transport Systems, particularly SCATS (Sydney Coordinated Adaptive Traffic System).
  • Proficient with telecommunications technologies like ADSL, NBN, 4G, 5G and Fibre Optic.
  • Licensed Electrician with a White Card certification.
  • Valid motor vehicle driver's license.
  • Ability to work independently in challenging environments, including adverse weather and extreme heat.
  • Strict adherence to Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) for safety, especially when working near live traffic.
  • Willingness to travel both within and outside the Sydney Metropolitan area.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal hours occasionally and participate in a 24/7 call-out roster.
  • Successful completion of a criminal record check and required site inductions.
  • Ensure continuous updates to configuration information, work instructions, problem tickets, and knowledge base materials as new technologies are integrated into the operational environment.
