The Role
The Field OperationsTeam Leader is a member of Our Client’s Network and Operations team and plays a key role in the successful rollout of their Dark Fibre Network. reports directly to the Victorian State Manager.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing direct supervision of subcontractors and internal work crews to ensure all field work activity is conducted at each site in a safe and effective manner.
The Field OperationsTeam Leader is a hands-on, predominately field-based role that ensures contractor compliance with Our Client specifications, work practices and policies.
Main responsibilities include:
- Quality control and access to construction
- Managing staff to meet business requirements
- Mentoring and collaborating to develop junior staff members
- Creating and Managing staff development plans
- Managing task allocations for daily/weekly work activities
- Reporting on team outputs and business outcomes
- Collating and inputting “As built” drawings and documentation into Our Client systems
- Project Management of the construction of the various components of a Pit and Pipe Network to support a high-density Fibre Optic Infrastructure
- Multi-tasking and task prioritisation
- Internal and external relationship management
- Engaging external stakeholders (Councils, Building Managers & other authorities)
- Project Management of the dark fibre network rollout
- Identify build and foster strong respectful and professional relationships with key clients and stakeholders
- Working in a team environment
- Effective sub-contractor management
- Monitor and report on contractor performance and implement immediate remedial actions to overcome any unsatisfactory situations
- Ensure contractors are not in breach of any contractual requirement or undertaking
- Report on overall status and performance across all active projects, identifying any activities with potential risk. Advise corrective actions proposed to minimise/overcome these issues.
- Management of the ordering and delivery of all third-party services required to deliver customer services.
- Through leadership ensure appropriate behaviours are consistent with Our Client values
- Assess, identify and record project risks and hazards in the appropriate Risk/Hazard Register
- Ensure compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements in the provision of a safe and healthy workplace and work practices.
- Extensive experience required in the construction of a Fibre Optic Pit & Pipe network and associated Fibre Optic Equipment.
- Management experience
- In-depth knowledge of Pit and Pipe construction including HDD boring and trenching techniques
- Previous experience engaging external civil construction and Fibre construction stakeholders.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Excel, MS Word Google Earth Pro and Visio (occasionally)
- In-depth knowledge of Telstra DCAF and related procedures.
- An understanding of the Land Access & Activity Notice (LAAN) process
- Extensive experience in the Telco Industry
- Experience in Project Management
- Strong technical knowledge of fibre optics would be highly desirable.
