Nqpetro is a major installation, maintenance and service provider to retail/commercial/industrial/mining petroleum customers and associated industries.
We are currently seeking an experienced person with previous service background, to join our vibrant team to train to become a Petroleum Service Technician. No industry experience is required, as all training will be provided, just a willingness to learn, positive attitude and motivation to be able to integrate quickly.
Once trained and competent you will be responsible for completing planned and reactive maintenance requests for our clients in both the retail petroleum domain (Petrol Stations) and non-retail domain (other businesses that store/handle/dispense petroleum based fuels). We install, service, and support equipment, technology, infrastructure used for the storage, monitoring, and dispensing petroleum based fuels and other auxiliary equipment like compressors and tyre inflators.
This role is based out of our Cairns office and services the greater FNQ areas.
Works include but not limited to:
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance.
- Providing technical support and phone fix solutions.
- Complete inspections and maintain up-to-date paperwork
- Collaborate with the Service Co-Ordinator to achieve effective work programming to meet Maintenance and Service Objectives.

What we are looking for:
- Electrical Trade Background preferred
- Strong diagnostic skills and ability to problem solve
- Drivers Licence
- Ability to work unsupervised and to the highest safety standards
- Well-developed time management & prioritisation abilities
- Good Communication skills - interpersonal & organisational
- Experience in petroleum industry – exposure to working within hazardous zones (desirable)
- Experience working with High-Risk work permitting systems (desirable)
- EEHA / HRW licence / WAH / Confined Space qualifications (desirable)
Full training will be provided to the successful applicant with ongoing support from experienced Service Technicians in surrounding areas.
