Greyhound Racing in Queensland has entered an exciting new phase in 2024 with the amalgamation of the Ipswich Greyhound Racing Club and Brisbane Greyhound Racing Club to form the Queensland Greyhound Racing Club (QGRC). In late 2024 the QGRC will commence transitioning its operations to The Q greyhound racing facility located in Yamanto south-west of Ipswich.
The Club promotes a family-friendly and balanced workplace, with flexibility in work patterns to suit your life commitments. The position is initially based in our Brisbane Office at Albion Park Raceway and will relocate to The Q during 2025.
The position will be responsible for managing and maintaining the financial and compliance processes of the Club, as well as the day to day management of the Club office. The position reports to the General Manager – Business Services.
Primary Responsibilities
Finance
- Accounts Receivable
- Accounts payable including purchase order register maintenance
- Bank Reconciliations
- Credit Card reconciliations
- Month end reconciliations including posting month end journals
- Financial reporting
- Answering finance related queries from customers and suppliers
- Managing payments for superannuation, BAS/ GST, PAYG and other statutory returns as required
- Ensuring all financial functions are being conducted as per policy
- Maintaining effective internal controls and segregation of duties
- Payroll processing for 80+ employees utilising an end to end online payroll platform across multiple modern awards
- Maintaining employee records
Financial Reporting
- Manage the corporate information systems and processes within the club.
- Preparation of documentation for all business reporting requirements, including governing body and legislative compliance
- Preparation of Business KPI’s for monthly Committee meetings.
- Reviewing and updating financial and compliance policies
Administration
- Act as the first point of contact for the Club.
- Maintain membership register.
- Undertake general administrative functions as required.
- Answer telephones and respond to enquiries as required.
- Respond to general enquiry emails.
- Assistance with events and errands as required.
- Maintains office services by organising office operations and procedures; controlling correspondence and maintaining a correspondence register; designing filing systems.
- Maintains office efficiency by planning and implementing office systems and layouts.
- Procurement and control of stationary supplies, consumables and merchandise within delegated authority limits, including any racing supplies required.
- Procurement and control of employee uniform supplies
- Implement office policies within established standards and procedures; measuring results against standards; making necessary adjustments.
Selection Criteria

- Accounting qualification preferred but not essential
- Computer literacy including intermediate to expert knowledge of Excel and other Office suite programs
- Proven experience managing office functions and performing administrative duties
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience interacting with senior management and presenting financial information
- Experience in using MYOB essential
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Hours of Work
The Club conducts four race meetings per week from Monday to Sunday at the Albion Park Raceway, Breakfast Creek, Brisbane. Due to the nature of the position some evening and weekend work may be required during race meetings. The position allows for flexible working hours based around the needs of the Club and our clients.
