The Finance Business Advisor plays a crucial role in providing top-tier business and financial advisory services to designated divisions within the department. This encompasses a spectrum of responsibilities including internal budgeting and forecasting, labor analytics, capital reporting and planning, management reporting, business case development, and coordination of risk and savings plans. Additionally, the role entails delivering high-level accounting support services, ensuring meticulous review of general ledger accounts to maintain consistency with management reporting standards.
Key Accountabilities:
- Develop and compile monthly financial management reports, dashboards, and financial statements in collaboration with senior executives and managers, facilitating informed decision-making and implementation of mitigation strategies concerning progress or variances against budgets and forecasts.
- Offer timely and expert financial and accounting guidance to the Manager Business Advisory, formulating budgets and monthly budget forecasts for designated functional areas to align with Cluster's financial and business performance objectives.
- Provide financial performance analysis, accounting insights, cash management, savings targets, and business monitoring to enable management in comprehending and making decisions regarding current and future business performance.
- Coordinate all funding arrangements and proposals, actively contributing to the preparation of business cases.
- Cultivate stakeholder, client, and peer confidence and support, managing diverse and often urgent business requests and competing deadlines within a complex and rapidly changing environment.
- Research and resolve inquiries and complex issues, furnishing advice, recommendations, and resolution options, including innovative ideas to enhance process efficiency and internal control performance.
- Prepare comprehensive briefing notes, reports, policies, procedures, and other pertinent material as required by the Manager Business Advisory on significant financial accounting and reporting matters.
Key Challenges:
- Deliver accurate and detailed budgets, accounts, and management reports promptly to meet corporate and internal business partners' expectations.
- Foster stakeholder, client, and peer trust and support amid diverse and often pressing business requests and deadlines within a complex and dynamic environment.
- Navigate guidance from the Manager Business Advisory and Divisional managers while ensuring team priorities are met within the agreed work program.
- Adhere to applicable sector and departmental legislation, financial policies, frameworks, Treasurer Directions, financial delegations, and professional practice standards.
- Exercise accountability and responsibility for efficient management and utilization of human and financial resources within established budget and resource parameters.
