About the role
- Provide strategic, analytical, and operational budget and forecasting expertise.
- Ensure consistent implementation of the planning cycle across the business in line with the department's timetable.
- Collaborate with Finance Business Partners and executive stakeholders to cascade, monitor, and report the department’s financial strategy.
- Develop and implement quality governance and controls for budget and forecast processes, enhancing methodologies, techniques, tracking systems, and reconciliations.
- Manage detailed internal forecasting and planning processes.
The Finance Manager role is integral to the Corporate Services Finance team within the NSW Department of Education. This role delivers strategic, analytical, and operational budget and forecasting expertise, advice and support across the department. The Finance Manager collaborates closely with finance business partners, coaching and supporting engagements with senior executives to develop and manage budgets, analyse financial data, and implement effective financial strategies. Enhancing the team's capabilities through continuous improvement in budgeting and forecasting methodologies, processes, and practices.

About you
- Skilled in strategic financial planning, budgeting, and analysis
- Proficient in building strong relationships with senior management
- Experienced in large organisation financial management
- Adept at navigating complex financial environments and regulations
- Excellent communication skills, able to translate complex financial data
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
