About our client:
Our client is a high profile, independent industry association. As the state's peak industry-political lobbying body, it is dedicated to providing its members with representation on a variety of industry issues, professional services and commercial benefits. The Association has membership across the state's geographical zones and the profession's specialty groups and plays a pivotal role in the formation of public policy.
About the role:
Reporting to the Director Services and Finances, and with the assistance of a small accounts team, you will be responsible for the management of the Association’s accounts, operating cashflow, payroll and statutory requirements and reporting and assists with budgeting and forecasting processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivery of all financial services within required timeframes and with accuracy and compliance, including monthly management accounts including balance sheets, income and expenditure reports, etc.
- Preparation of working papers for the annual audit including liaison with external auditors
- Assist with the development of the annual budget and half yearly forecast
- Prepare financial reports for the Board and provide analysis and simplified explanations of financial performance
- Attend (as required) Board and/or Audit Committee meetings to present reports or provide clarification for questions
- Manage payroll and benefits consistent with AMA NSW requirements and relevant legislation and ensure confidentiality
- Responsible for statutory requirements including annual return required by ASIC, ongoing advice to ASIC, payroll tax, FBT and PAYG reconciliations required by the ATO, Workers’ Compensation reconciliations, and GST and Business Activity Statements
- Manage a range of office/facilities management projects with the Services & Finance team
- Manage workload and performance of the accounts team
To be considered for this role, you'll need to demonstrate:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in accounting and finance
- CPA or equivalent certification
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a senior financial accounting role
- Demonstrated understanding of financial governance systems
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a small team
- Experience with financial governance systems in a NFP organisation is preferred
- High level of attention to detail combined with excellent financial literacy
- Ability to prepare reports and simply and clearly communicate financial information to management and staff
- Demonstrated ability to identify, plan and implement improvement projects within a finance and accounting function
- Well-developed skills in managing time, setting priorities, planning and organising one’s own work to achieve specific objectives
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Knowledge of requirements of the Australian Medical practice standards (preferred)
- Sound understanding and proficient knowledge of marketing and communication practices for membership based organisations
- COVID vaccination certificate
- Be willing to undergo a National Police Check
- FTE Salary of $110K plus superannuation

- Flexibility to WFH 1 day per week
