The Role
The Finance Manager plays a key role in supporting the month-end and financial accounting processes within the team and providing technical accounting advice to the business. Reporting to the GM of Finance, this role will be broad and hands-on in nature and will evolve over time as the team grows and processes mature. This is an excellent opportunity to establish best practices in the finance team while acting as the 2IC to the GM of Finance.
Duties:
- Prepare general purpose annual financial statements for the SEC Victoria Pty Ltd Group and its relevant subsidiaries.
- Complete statutory accounts with regular interaction with the external auditor (Victorian Auditor General’s Office) to ensure audit requirements are practical, clear, and achievable.
- Provide commercially focused, technical accounting advice across the business, including support for business development activities.
- Maintain accounting policies as required, offering clear guidance on accounting treatment and practical implementation guidance.
- Review new and emerging accounting standards and advise on their implications for the business's reporting obligations.
- Prepare papers for the Audit and Risk Committee and Board of Directors.
- Prepare monthly tax effect accounting and the direct income tax return of the tax-consolidated group in compliance with regulatory requirements on a timely basis.
- Prepare relevant returns for indirect/employment/state taxation, including supporting analysis when necessary.
- Oversee the balance sheet, including a bi-annual balance sheet review process and reconciliation of accounts.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and improve accounting processes.
To succeed in this position, we require an ambitious and motivated Finance Manager who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. You will have an inquisitive and growth mindset, with aspirations to manage a small team. Training from a Big 4/Mid-Tier firm with a solid audit background will be highly suited to this position, and experience in improving/establishing processes in a 'start-up' environment will be advantageous. This is an outstanding opportunity to be part of the SEC team, where you will contribute to the growth and build of the finance team. CA/CPA is mandatory.
