Job Summary
Martinus is seeking a Finance Manager on a contract basis with an immediate start to support one of our flagship projects with InlandRail.
You will be responsible for the full month-end/year-end close process, as well as supporting management in the production of financial statements, audit queries and ad hoc reporting requirements for the project.
Jobs Task and Responsibilities
- Manage accounting close process including journals, project and overhead review, and tax effect accounting entries
- Cashflow management
- Manage the financial internal control environment, including but not limited to journal approval, balance sheet reconciliation approval, master data management, and segregation of duties
- Facilitate timely and accurate reporting relating to actual cost and P&L
- Report on expected and actual project performance against agreed KPIs including root cause analysis
- Understanding of the overall project development requirements and stages of projects
- Assist in compiling the annual statutory accounts
- Assist in compiling financial forecasts, budgets, and forward business plans
- Assist in compiling audit queries
Skills and experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Commerce (or industry equivalent)
- Full membership CA or CPA
- Proven background in and working on construction projects as a Finance Manager. Civil & Rail construction experience is preferred
- Demonstrable experience at a similar level ideally gained within a high growth and fast paced environment
- Detailed project accounting experience
- Manage the month end financials process, project financial reporting, and expected vs actual performance in a timely, complete and accurate way
- Manage monthly cost / revenue forecasting, engage with and support the project engineering team
- Managed financial processes. This includes cost codes, docket tracking, accounts payable, accruals, payment claims
- Understanding of subcontractor and client agreements
- Understanding of the overall project development requirements and stages of projects
- Strong skills in SAP and Excel
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to liaise with key stakeholders
