About the Role:
In this role, you will provide support to the Brigade Finance function, working closely with the Brigade Finance Team Leader. Your responsibilities include gaining a thorough understanding of the financial activities of assigned brigades/groups, offering guidance and mentorship to volunteers to ensure their financial practices align with relevant laws and CFA financial policies, conducting inspections to assure the integrity of brigade/group financial activities and assisting CFA in meeting its compliance and reporting obligations concerning brigade financial matters.
Key Duties:
- Understand assigned brigade finances.
- Build partnerships colleagues across various CFA district offices.
- Work independently and schedule tasks.
- Deliver assurance program.
- Support brigade financial strategies.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Analyse and resolve issues.
- Mentor volunteer treasurers and secretaries.
- Interpret laws and policies.
- Consolidate financial data.
- Maintain documentation.
- Provide advice and assistance to stakeholders.
- Good understanding of financial reports and accounting concepts to apply to an internal assurance program, reviewing brigade financial activity.
- Experience in working to timelines and briefs with minimal disruption to other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated results orientation, including the ability to meet deadlines for the delivery of defined outputs, reports and other data as appropriate.
- High level written and verbal communications skills and ability to compile databases and reports utilising appropriate computer applications (word processing, spread sheets, bookkeeping packages).
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with a range of personnel, particularly volunteers.
- Experience working with spreadsheets and accounting software packages.
- Degree or equivalent tertiary qualification, particularly in finance or accounting discipline or proven experience undertaking a similar role in a large and complex organisation.
