TP Human Capital is collaborating with a government entity in Townsville to recruit a skilled finance professional. This role requires proficiency in managing vendor accounts, ensuring accuracy in invoice processing, and adhering to financial regulations. Responsibilities include verifying supplier bank details, processing accounts payable invoices, managing credit card accounts, and providing training on financial systems.
Duties
- Apply the knowledge, skills, and experience to understand, analyse, maintain, and manage accurate records on vendor accounts (including verifying bank details with suppliers), assuring invoices presented are accurate and payments are authorised in accordance with the Financial Delegations.
- Responsible for processing accounts payable invoices in accordance with the PGPA Act, the Department of Finance Supplier Pay On-Time and Pay Interest Policy, and e-invoicing requirements, ensuring accuracy of data, record of interactions and decisions.
- Manage credit card accounts (including but not limited to activating, issuing, processing limits), provide training to staff on the use of the system to acquit transactions within the required period, follow up on outstanding account balances with internal customers, assisting them to complete acquittals within the required timeframe.
- Understand specific internal and external stakeholder needs, and interpret and apply a variety of legislation, policies, and procedures to provide a high level of customer service within the Finance section, that is valued by all stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of finance policies, procedures, and manuals to ensure they are efficient and effective in accordance with legislation, policy, and procedures.
- Work collaboratively in a team-based environment which includes actively participating in, and contributing to work undertaken across the Finance section, including undertaking special projects and relief of other roles at level, as required to support the business objectives.
Essential requirements
- 2+ years of experience in a Finance-related position.
Desirable qualifications or equivalent experience

- Demonstrated experience using and maintaining enterprise finance/procurement systems.
- Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office products, in particular Word and Excel, and in the use of document management systems.
- Demonstrated experience in applying the principles of continuous quality improvement to procurement/finance management systems and processes.
- Demonstrated problem-solving, research, and analytical skills, including demonstrated experience in data analysis and data management systems.
