This position is permanent and based in Fyshwick, Canberra. The position is full time, however part time and flexible working arrangements will be considered for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
The Finance Officer will play a vital role in providing financial services across the organisation and will be responsible for:
- Manage Purchasing and Accounts Payable functions, including quality assurance and payment processing
- Manage Accounts Receivable functions, including invoice preparation and matching of payments to invoice issue;
- Prepare journals and reconciliations, as required;
- Provision of financial information and reports to internal and external stakeholders;
- Preparing and delivering accurate periodic and ad-hoc financial reports, and support the preparation of year-end financial statements;
- Support the preparation of internal budgets
- Maintaining financial, accounting, administrative and personnel services in order to meet legislative requirements, including payroll.
- Preparing payroll data from time sheets, payroll and personnel records, processing payment of salaries, issuing and recording adjustments to employees’ pay, interpreting industrial awards and finalising arrangements when employees leave the organisation.
- Other business service functions and ad hoc duties, as may reasonably be required.
- Demonstrated ability to manage purchasing and accounts payable functions;
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of GST;
- Demonstrated ability and experience in financial reporting and the provision of relevant information to stakeholders;
- Demonstrated experience with financial management systems, including Xero and Dynamics 365;
- Ability to work independently and with initiative to deliver quality outcomes against established priorities, practices and methodologies.
- Confidence to make decisions, with direction from more senior staff, on tasks assignments with considerable complexity and sensitivity.
- Ability to make decisions using good judgement, expertise and knowledge, ensuring that decisions are governed by the application of best practice principles and the organisation’s operating instructions and procedures.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with a range of audiences, including at the Executive level.
- Self-management skills to plan own work tasks and priorities that align with your and the organisation’s priorities.
- Experience using Microsoft Suite of products, including MS Teams, Excel, and other Office 365 applications.
- Awareness of the digital environment and an understanding of how to engage with clients in a digital first manner.
- To efficiently use digital workplace tools to solve problems, be productive, connect and collaborate with others.
