The Western Australian Electoral Commission manages election events for the State and local governments and non-parliamentary organisations such as trade unions and others.
This vacancy is to be filled on a permanent basis by the end of May 2024.
Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other subsequent “similar” vacancies that become available at the Commission. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision.
About the role.
The Western Australian Electoral Commission (WAEC) is seeking an experienced Finance Officer to join their team. You will support the Senior Finance Officer in providing day-to-day assistance with financial accounting activities, including timely and accurate management of accounts and financial processing. You will also be required to assist in procurement activities for the Commission by regularly updating the contract register and TendersWA and facilitate procurements’ processes.
The ideal person for the role.
To be successful in this role you will have the ability to consult effectively with staff at all levels, providing advice and assistance to internal and external stakeholders. The WAEC is looking for an individual who will work collaboratively within a team environment working towards achieving Commission objectives.
Selection Criteria:
Essential:
- Demonstrated experience in an accounts environment and proficiency with the use of integrated finance systems.
- Demonstrated well developed organisational skills, including the ability to work with minimal supervision, identify priorities, meet deadlines and deal with conflicting demands.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated well developed computer skills including the ability to create, operate, extract reports, and manipulate databases, spreadsheets, and systems.
Desirable:
- Working knowledge of the Financial Management Act 2006 and Treasurer’s Instructions in relation to accounts processing.
- Experience in and/or knowledge of Government Procurement policies, contract management processes, reporting and compliance requirements and/or contract development.
