Role Overview:
We are seeking an ambitious Finance and Operations Associate with a keen eye for detail and a strong background in business, preferably with a major in accounting. This role offers the unique opportunity to be at the strategic heart of our financial operations while working directly under the mentorship of our COO/CFO—a seasoned professional Chartered Accountant with a Big 4 background and proven success in business ownership. Beyond financial management, you will play a pivotal role in driving continuous and process improvement, contributing to business planning and strategy, and ensuring operational efficiency across our projects and business practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the CFO in managing financial aspects of projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and expense tracking.
- Play a key role in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency.
- Actively contribute to business planning and strategic decision-making processes, ensuring alignment with financial goals and operational excellence.
- Lead initiatives for continuous and process improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance business practices and project performance.
- Participate in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, providing insightful analysis for strategic decisions.
- Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure financial objectives are met, reinforcing a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.
- Manage operational finances, including invoicing, and accounts payable/receivable, with a focus on efficiency and accuracy.
- Assist in the audit process by preparing and providing required documentation and explanations, ensuring compliance and transparency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field, with a major in accounting highly preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in finance or accounting, ideally in an engineering or project-based environment, with a strong interest in operations and process improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement and efficiency in operational processes.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the capacity to manage complex datasets.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the proven ability to work effectively within a team.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- A proactive, problem-solving approach to tasks, capable of efficiently managing multiple priorities.
