You will be working for a large government department that oversees regulatory activities for organisations across Australia. This department has offices all over the country and prides itself on servicing the public and ensuring that companies abide by federal guidelines.
Your new role
You will be working in a small Finance Systems team, supporting colleagues across Australia. You will be working alongside highly experienced Finance Systems Officers, and will be given a full and in-depth training plan to ensure you are set up to succeed. This role is a mixture of customer-service and basic accounting, as you will be advising your colleagues on correct methods for finance, accounting and expense claims input. Here is a brief overview of your responsibilities:
- Help-desk customer-service focused role
- Supporting your colleagues with expense and accounting system queries (in PeopleSoft and Expens8)
- Liaising via email, chat and calls to problem-solve issues
- Assisting team-members with projects
- Advising on best practice and following guidelines closely
What you'll need to succeed
You will have a degree in finance or accounting, with experience working in AP/AR. You will bring customer-service experience, ideally within a help-desk role, and will have excellent communication skills. Having knowledge of accounting standards and general ledgers would be highly regarded. You should also have worked in a large and highly-regulated industry, such as government, or financial services. Experience with a large ERP system would be highly beneficial. You will be a proactive problem-solver and enjoy helping people! You MUST be an Australian Citizen to apply, since the Federal Government department requires this for baseline clearances.
What you'll get in return
This is a 6-month temporary role to start, however there is scope for the role to extend and potentially to even go permanent, given the right person. The role is based in Sydney CBD and the offices are large and modern, as well as being in close-proximity to public transport links and central station. You will be paid at the APS6 level, which is a salary equivalent of $90-97k + super. Hybrid work is encouraged, and the team tends to do 2–3 days from home per week. You will be working regular hours to support the internal customers. You will be provided with amazing training from an encouraging team.
